It is non-irritating and doesn't dry out the skin. It removes all make-up, including waterproof mascara. The secret is not in the amount you use, but in the gentle massaging which seems to break up the make-up. Leave for 1 or 2 mins, wipe off with a hot cloth then rinse with water. Amazingly, my face felt "balanced" instead of dry. I am 50 and entering menopause so my skin's a bit messed-up right now. Well, alpha-h are of great assistance here, thank you! I developed acne as an adult and for years thought I would never have good skin again. But right from the first time I used balancing cleanser I noticed a difference. Within a month my skin looked better than it had in a decade and people were asking me what I'd been doing as I looked so well! My niece is now a big fan after I gave her a tube when she developed acne and her skin looks fabulous now.
